Statues have found a place in human existence since time immemorial. In fact, apart from tools and other essentials, the man of the stone-age also sculptured statues out of stones and rocks. They may not have been the finest works of art, but all the same without training and formal knowledge, they did create pre-historic masterpieces.

If statues have a historic significance, then they also have aesthetic value.


We will notice that statues have several common characteristics from the way they face and are positioned, to the way they are sized and depicted. There are three options for statue figures, either stand, sit, or kneel.

Almost every country has museums where sculptures of famed people of the past are created.

The purpose of museums is to give visitors a virtual experience of the past. In fact many palaces of India have been converted into museums.

Statues do not have to be colossal in size. Human size statues or statuettes are enough to bring forth the work of the sculptors. Creativity is the art of the mind formed from a daring imagination to make the difference – to bring laughter or to frown upon.

When studying the history of any culture or civilization, studying their various forms of art has been of vital importance. This is because the statues do say a lot about the prevailing times.

There are life-size sculptures or miniatures that can be kept on shelves. The government also sanctions the sculpturing of statues of people who have made a significant contribution to society, whether historic person or someone who belongs to the contemporary period.

Funny people will corelate themselves with statue(s) just to have the fun out of it.

Many people place statues in their homes and commercial premises to add to the beauty of the surroundings.

Some institutes, schools, colleges, hospitals and other such organizations usually have a statue of their founder prominently displayed.

Knowing The S.H.I.T. In Education

In order to ensure the highest level of quality work and productivity from the students, it will be our policy to keep all the students well-informed and taught through our programme of SPECIAL HIGHT INTENSITY TEACHING. (S.H.I.T).

We are trying to give our students more S.H.I.T. than anyone else. If you feel that you do not receive the share of S.H.I.T. in the course, please see your lecturer. You will be immediately placed at the top of the S.H.I.T. list, and our lecturers are skilled at seeing you get all the S.H.I.T. you can handle.


Students who do not take their S.H.I.T. will be placed in the DEPARTMENTAL EDUCATION EVALUATION PROGRAMMES (D.E.E.P. S.H.I.T.).

Those who failed to take D.E.E.P. S.H.I.T. seriously, will have to go to the EDUCATIONALL ATTITUDE TRAINING. (E.A.T. S.H.I.T.).

Since our lecturers took S.H.I.T. before they graduated, they do not have to do S.H.I.T. anymore, because they are full of S.H.I.T. already.

Taxi Driver Rapist

Taxi Driver Rapist Wanted by Cops

Police are hunting for a suspect believed to have raped several women while masquerading as a taxi driver in the Klang Valley .

The suspect, believed to be in his 30s, was last known to be driving a red and white taxi (reported stolen in Kuang last September) with the registration plate HWB 5868 and is said to have worn a standard taxi driver's uniform, that being a white shirt and black pants.

He is also known to have possessed an army knife and handcuffs which were used on his victims.The vehicle was also modified in such a way that only the driver could control the locks on the doors.

"We advise the public to be careful when riding in taxis. We also urge those who may have come in contact with the person with the said description to contact us," said Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC II Ku Chin Wah.

He added that the back windscreen of the taxi was damaged in the last known rape case and advised workshops to be on the look-out as well. In the last reported case, the suspect was believed to have robbed and raped a 28-year old passenger in the Kepong area, took her back to her Section 17, Petaling Jaya home and had waited for the cab fare, but fled when her uncle came out to confront him.

The victim was a sales promoter at a shopping centre in Bandar Utama. On Jan 15, the same suspect was believed to have raped a woman in the Ampang area. Police believe the man may have committed other rapes in the Klang Valley , which have gone unreported.

The Spectacular Mass Migration of Stingrays

Looking like giant leaves floating in the sea, thousands of Golden Rays are seen here gathering off the coast of Mexico, off the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula, gliding silently beneath the waves, turning vast areas of blue water to gold.

These magnificent creatures are making one of their biannual mass migrations to more agreeable waters.

The spectacular scene was captured by Sandra Critelli, an amateur photographer, stumbled across the phenomenon while looking for whale sharks.

'It's hard to say exactly how many there were, but in the range of a few thousand'

Despite having poisonous stingers, they are known to be shy and non-threatening when in large schools.

The population in the Gulf of Mexico migrates, in schools of as many as 10,000, clockwise from western Florida to the Yucatan.

P.Uthayakumar

This morning, the High Court postponed P.Uthayakumar's case to April.

His lawyer YB M.Manogaran gave an account why Uthayakumar was not present in court. The problem lies with his swollen leg. Secondly, Uthayakumar refused police escorts because they will blindfold and intimidate him along the way despite having his difficulties to walk. He prefers to attend court with the prison wardens escort.

The attachment is his fourth police report made about how he was deprived of a proper medical treatment.

This is my fourth police report since my left leg toe injury on 31/1/09. On 3/2/09 I was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital but was refused to be admitted despite confirming a fracture, my leg blackening and swollen. On 12/2/09 at about 11.30 pm I was taken to the Emergency Department of Taiping General Hospital when my leg suddenly swelled more. Only after a police report was lodged I was taken to see a specialist at the Taiping General Hospital on 17/2/09 who merely also repeated what the earlier two doctors had said that my leg would heal on its own. Up to date I have never been given any medication or medical aids. But the Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar diverted the whole issue by saying that I had refused to go to hospital. From day one ie from 31/1/09 I have insisted that I want to be treated at the Gleaneagles Private Hospital as the Government Hospital doctors independence have been compromised by the police Special Branch as is evident from these doctors and government servants tens of affidavits filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court last year.

On 16/3/09 when my leg swelled up and became painful again I had put up a request form officially asking to make a police report and to be sent to the said Gleneagles Hospital but to no avail. I was only allowed to make a police report today 18/3/09 that too only after numerous reminders.

On 16/2/08 at about 3.05 pm on Chief Inspector Sobri came with another prison cameraman constable Sobri who took five shots of my swollen and blackened leg. They together with Sargeant Sulmi also saw my leg condition.

On 16/2/09 the prison warden gave me my one month of Diabetes and cholesterol medications. I am putting this on record as I do not want Syed Hamid to play politics with my health and say that I am not taking my medication.

On 17/3/09 there is a new sharp pain on my left foot toe and I walk the most minimum possible.

On 18/3/09 I showed Coporal Razali my swollen and blackened leg and said it was painful-sharp pain. I again insisted that I want to lodge a police report for the records. This is the only thing I can do as a prisoner. I still believe that the umno controlled Malaysian government is trying to kill me in prison for political reasons. I repeat for the twentieth time that I want to be treated urgently at the Gleaneagles Hospital. I did not ask to be in prison. I also ask ugently for all my medical reports from 13/12/07 to date from the Taiping General Hospital, Pusat Perubatan Taiping and Klinik Kemta (Prison Clinic) and also the prison taken five photographs aforesaid.

Earlier on 16/3/09 at 11.30 am I had showed Constable Mushas my swollen leg and told the duty Corporal that the old plastic chair given to me broke and almost seriously injured my backbone.

Indra, the wife of Uthayakumar put up a brave front when obliging me with my questions. Like any loving wife, she misses her husband like her children. What they have right now is the hope that keeps them together.

She visits her husband every Saturday with her children and the hugs and kisses are the only meaningful contact that they have the privilege to. Her immediate concern is the condition of Uthaya's leg which is deteriorating.

She is thankful to those who show support and she will convey the message to her husband that people have not forgotten him and those in Kamunting. No matter how hard she tries, she could not keep her teary eyes away each time the thought of her husband flashes across her mind.

The vibration is strong over the whole issue even her intermittent smiles could not hide. Like all the spouses of ISA detainees, they share the common trait, that is to be steadfast and to support their men.

Indra's love and belief in her man is painted across her face but the hurt in her heart is forever hidden from people's eyes. The only way people could give her and her children the comfort is to be with her at the next hearing on 20th. April 2009.

We are not wearing the shoes of the spouses of ISA detainees, but at least we should learn to walk a mile with them, and in this case, let us walk with Indra!

Digi Internet Broadband

After lunch hour, the first floor of One Utama (New Wing) was buzzing with fanfare. Digi officially launched its internet broadband.

It was quite a crowd gathering and wanting to know what was coming from Digi.

It was an interesting show put up at the official launching.

People who turned up to show moral support were indeed touching. Many strangers came and some in working attires and surprisingly housewives too.

People were willing to take time off from work to be present for their moral support was beyond words. Talk about brotherhood and sisterhood, the crowd spoke for itself.
Those charged were not allowed to leave the courtroom. They had to wait for the bail to be posted over lunch time.

There is always a Samaritan among the candlelight attendees in time of needs. Mr.R.Aravind came forward with KFC and mineral water to keep the “detainees” stomachs from growling. On behalf of those “detained” we thank you sir, for your kind thought.

By 4.30 pm, the last of the 23 "detainees" managed to leave for home.

WHAT ARE THEY CHARGED FOR? God Knows!

Let us turn back the pages of time over how it all started where the 23 persons for the candlelight vigil were deemed to be a threat to peace, in Part 3. No matter how ridiculous it might sound to be, but for the police, it was all much ado about nothing!

The night of November 9th took an ugly turn. The first anniversary of BERSIH was to start after the candlelight vigil at the same venue.
