Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has told leaders that one of the best ways to win the trust and confidence of the people is to be truthful to them.
"Tell them the truth. If you've done well, tell them the policies are right. If the policies are not working, then you should have the courage to tell them that look, we've made mistakes but we intend to do better, we intend to correct these mistakes. And I think the rakyat would appreciate that," he was quoted as saying by Bernama.

According to the Prime Minister, the chaotic proceedings in the Perak state assembly has tarnished the nation's image although Malaysia practiced a "mature democracy".
"Our government is holding firm to constitutional rights and democracy. If we do not respect this practice, then it would be no less than a jungle law, even if both sides of the political divide have different principles, the premier stressed that "they shouldn't have forced their principles on others."
