Lets Walk The Street!

Comes 5 December 2010, Selangoreans and the like will hand over the 100,000 signatures together with a memorandum to the Yang Pertuan Agong to buy over the water companies in the state.

The people are expected to gather at the National Mosque before walking to the Palace. Will the number of people turning out correspond with the 100.000 signatures? It does not have to and in fact if 10,000 can turn up it will be one mammoth crowd indeed!

The people must show support for the Selangor government to buy over the water companies for better management and the control of the water tariffs.

Consumers have being paying for murky water far too long. Without water filters, the water through the pipes is unfit for consumption. Just imagine those households could hardly install a decent one, have to make do with what they are paying with their good money.

Like adding salt to the wound, Indah Waters Consortium is waiting like vultures to collect service payment for used water. In another word we have to pay Indah Waters to clean up the murky water as well. We are made to be like “dungus” to be led by a hook in the nose!

Since the Selangor government has time and again proven their ability to manage the state, it is wise to buy up Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn.Bhd (Syabas), Puncak Niaga, Syarikat Pengeluaran Air Selangor Sdn.Bhd(Splash) and Konsortium ABASS.

By allowing the people-orientated state government to buy and merge the four water companies into one, the people have more to benefit and pay lesser. This may not be a reality with profit-orientated water companies.

With the escalating cost of living and the increase in water tariffs on basic necessity like water will definitely “drown” the people with sands.
