The excitement is still brewing in Tenang

As each day passes by, the vibration from the Tenang voters become stronger for PAS candidate. It is going to be a tough challenge for PAS initially but it may not be necessary so because of BN candidate. It is all about the wrong choice!

The usual BN election goodies is the trademark of corrupt indulgence and the Chinese 1Malaysia NGO’s team may come from a small portion of the 25% Chinese who are still the staunch supporters of MCA.

You may wonder where the percentage (25%) is plucked up from.

Let’s look at the past Kuala Terenggannu by-election. The Chinese played a crucial and smart move. They too received “ang pow” and oranges from BN/MCA but PAS won.

The Tenang Chinese is playing the same mind game and that is, the whole family would not go for one party. Even though one particular party is earmarked to be cast aside, but to keep it floating for enough air is the correct strategy.

MCA meant a lot to the older Chinese generation who are more attached to sentiments but the young generation gives two-hoots for MCA and BN.

A typical Chinese family is averaged at six persons per household. Somehow, not all will vote for PAS or BN. Take 1 in a family of 6 (17 %) or 2 in a family of 6 (34 %) to vote for BN is a pragmatic hypothesis.

With a little juggling the plus/minus figure will come close to 75 % in favour for PAS and 25 % for BN.

On the surface, PAS will win in Tenang. What helps in this by-election are the various events that have taken place recently.

Chua Soi Lek’s Factor

Anyone for the matter who could survive his sexual tryst made public and emerged the leader of his community, he is definitely not a political novice.

Many readers did not take kindly over the comments made by Chua Soi Lek about Teoh Beng Hock’s finding and his recent incessant remarks about Normala not shaking hands with males. The MCA president is not doing all these without a reason.

Crossing the Rubicon at Tenang is what MCA president is riding on. It does not matter if the MCA members in Tenang agree or disagree, because this is his calculated shot where he has nothing to lose. Being made to hold a double edge sword and in a situation between the devil and deep blue sea, his desperation cannot be veiled for too long.

He stirred the hornet’s nest of the Chinese and provoked the bee’s hive of the Malays. A long double-barrel could be held at his temple and having to walk a one-way street, he would rather help PAS to win in a way he finds satisfaction by flexing his muscles in a smart way.

Whoever wins in Tenang, Chua Soi Lek wins.

Perkasa’s Dread

The emergence of Perkasa has made more fence-sitters come to their senses. Like charlatans promulgating virtue and righteousness, they have fallen flat even among the muslims.

Perkasa is deemed to be a political catalyst with racist purpose to create fear and misunderstanding among the people. The unmasking of Perkasa’s deeds is from their own controversy like charlatans would do and should be!

Malaysia is in a dire need for truth but not for spewing hatred and racism. No matter whoever is in the political divide, they know Perkasa serves only UMNO.

Interlok Awakening

If only the Indians could harness their cooperation and stop forming new political parties, then you have stronger voice and command the respect that you deserve.

The more divided you are the easier it is for manipulation. When are you going to see the value of cooperation to stop the Indians from being taken for granted?

Interlok has reached Tenang! The Indian community will not keep quiet will they? Like the Chinese, there are Indians who are still the staunch supporters of BN who will never learn.

Can this small populace of about 1,780 Indians create an impact to derail BN with a wider majority? You bet your “tutu” that together with the Chinese and Malays, they are making the Butterfly Theory to take effect at Tenang!

PR should be consistent in their “ceramahs” by explaining what the rakyat should know. For BN and PR to make a slip from now on will be very costly indeed.

The Butterfly Effect will start at Tenang

This Tenang by-election is the threshold for the butterfly theory to take effect. The advent of this change will prevail in the state of Johor liken a floodgate with waning resistance to hold on desperately against the onslaught of the undercurrent of wanting change.

Johor is known to be BN stronghold and the fall to be for BN is beginning at Tenang. It will be dismantled piecemeal from each constituency comes the next General Election or by-election(s) that may happen from now till then.

The present political situations are not too chaotic to comprehend and say what you like, the situation is similar to pre 2008 where the country was run on auto-pilot mode except for now, it is piloted by an acrophobic captain.

For the butterfly effect to take place, a triggering point is needed. Where else could it be if not for Tenang to start the ball rolling?

With Normala Sudirman as the candidate for PAS and Mohd Azahar Ibrahim for BN, it is a new ball game after all.

The “ceramah” begins tonight will be with blazing six-shooter drawn from the hip. The highlights will be when top guns from both sides coming down with bazookas to blast each other to pulp. This may be my figurative expression over how I deem the political scenario seems to be and be ready to bet you “tutu” that this by-election will a steal compared to the last 13 that had taken place.

If Normala speaks during the ceramah, her eloquence will outshine Azahar’s. Judge for yourself!

Biting issues that plague Malaysians are like leprosy that is still without solutions let alone hope to go through each day with a reasonable three meals to fill the hungry stomachs. The cost of living will make everyone feels the pinch which entails the turning point for a change.

The 2008 tsunami was the result of people being angry with BN that PR reap the fruits, and today, people made hungry by BN will look to PR for hope.

There is no point shouting about racism, religion or even supremacy when right before our eyes nothing could blur our visions about the truth that had befallen on our country.

It is not Tenang by-election that the BN government is using as a yardstick to determine a snap GE. If BN wins comfortable (the PM wants more than 5,000 majority) then snap GE will be sooner and if lost it is otherwise. You can bet your “tutu” that win or lose for BN at Tenang, snap GE will be this year because the longer it drags the more difficult it is for BN to win.

Today is just the beginning of a long battle to fight between BN and PR for Tenang. By talking to the people and what the nightly ceremahs could offer, the result will not be difficult to forecast then.

I am filled with anxiety wanting to get that “special” feel how Tenang’s folks would think and the choice they have in mind. Hopefully, it would be a 50-50 chance either way without a wide margin of favouring majority.

Video on Tenang Nomination and result forecast to follow.

Are We In the Awakening or Still In Slumber

The Saying; we are what we eat, is true to the core as far as Malaysian politics is concerned.

The administration that wails political power has surpassed the limit of abuse. The once respected institution to uphold integrity and the well-being of the people is crumbling at a consistent rate.

The present public outcry against corruption has not gained momentum judging from the past public forums which served as “refresher” for the urbanites. They are capable to search and gather information unlike those in the outskirts who depended very much on the mainstream media.

This is the group of people who has been deprived from the truth is stark because of the censorship from the mainstream media. Thanks to the recent increase in petroleum price and the subsequent effect on the daily basic necessity to come, the pinch will tell a different story.

By crying out loud and to compare our wealth from the god-sent natural resources with other countries that have not, has become a mundane argument.

Each day hardly passes by without the shock of the hidden scandal that is brought into the open. Corruption is so rampant that the people are living without one iota of hope that the present government is capable to make a turnaround but to dig deeper into its own demise instead.

Nothing seems to be free from corruption and projects irrespective of its sizes are tainted with scandals. The emergence of political elites amassing huge wealth is uncommon. Has corruption become a way of politicians’ life and nothing can be done about it?

The members of parliament from the opposition party, NGOs and political bloggers should be lauded for their courage to expose how corrupted the government has been.

We should not allow corruption to reign over the people but to uproot it collectively. If the government cannot cease to be corrupted then the people should make it a reality, it has to be home grown effort.

Think about the spending power a wage earner has at his disposal. What about those of the lower income group? I dread to think how they are going to go through daily with so little to spend, let alone to save for a rainy day.

It is a shame that Malaysia is synonymous to corruption because this is, we are what we eat.

8- 3 In The Making!

Result – Sibu By-Election

The brow-sweating moment is finally over.

The eight-day “ceramah” has finally seen its day. Syabas to Pakatan Rakyat and most of all to the courageous Sibuhans for the most needed result.

When Malaysiakini reported at 5.05 p.m. that the latest unofficial tally that BN has increased its lead to 1,930 votes, I could still keep my fingers crossed for the official result.

Now that the battle has been won and by next year the “war” for the state by-election will prevail as well.

The yardstick is held up high and the Sibuhans have shown the way to lead the change!

You have not sold your soul to the devil
Sibuhans cannot be enticed by money
It is virtue you respect against corrupted evils
Not to be a sucker with poison laced with honey.

Friends said that I live in a fantasy world in my forecast for Pakatan Rakyat to win even by a small margin. I thanked them and told them it was better to keep their mouths shut to avoid the flies.

It is not a matter who is correct or wrong in any forecasts, but a matter how we should look at what people want. It is the change that people want and to what degree the sentiments have to change course is all that matter.

The majority of the Chinese have felt insulted by what are promised only during by-election. They know too well that development in any areas is the responsibility of the government but all by-elections had shown the ugly heads of corruption popping up without shame!

The Sibuhans have nipped corruption in the bud and you all deserve the reverence.

It is all about people’s power and nothing can stand in their way. And like it or not, the Sibuhans have lived up with their pride – We Will Show The Way!

What’s The Overall Score? 08 to PR and 03 to BN

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

Sibu By-Election

Sibu by-election is going to be a tough fight between two Chinese candidates in this urban area. DAP named its Sarawak chief Wong Ho Leng, while BN will be represented by Robert Lau Hui Yew from SUPP.

The Hulu Selangor by-election went to BN and this is no doubt a boost for BN in Sibu by-election. However, with the 53,679 (60%) of Chinese voters, the ball game is entirely different from Hulu Selangor.

By understanding the Chinese mind, we can safely conclude that whoever wins is no big deal as long as the people’s needs are looked into. However, if it is for the state seat, a very high percentage will go to BN to win.

It is a practical way to make the “adun” work for the benefits of the people in that constituency. And as for the parliamentary seat, it is wise for the candidate from the opposition to be voted in for stronger voice in the august house. This is a plus point for Pakatan Rakyat since Sibu by-election is for parliamentary seat.

Robert Lau unlike Kamal (Kamalanathan), who has won the Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat with the help of the Indians to create the tip and the Malay voters who felt threatened by the power that may be. So the candidates have to work into the mind of the Chinese why he deserves their votes.

There is a need to see at least 45,627 (85%) of the total eligible Chinese voters coming out to vote for Pakatan Rakyat in order to be in a safe margin. It is going to be tough but not impossible.

The Chinese in Sibu may be the kingmaker to determine who should win or otherwise. Their crucial decision is how well-informed they are on the disheartening issues happening in the peninsula.

Like the Indians, the Chinese too have been insulted despite how they had toiled in this land to make it a truly a multi-racial country since pre and post independence.

Today’s economy plays a critical role. The impact on their businesses is downright the deciding factor and with the education policy not in favour to the masses will definitely see what they will do in the polling day.

The Chinese people are spread throughout the world and to be able to read the Chinese way of thinking will have the added advantage. The way how they think is their survival instinct and the way how they are going to act will definitely be without reservation.

To get the Chinese for whatever support it should be followed by the question of physiological needs, and harness it with proper education policy (which is in a dire need for revamp) then the influencing factor will start to lurk within.

This is stark in the Chinese way of thinking and for Sibu, the Chinese works with their clans is the influencing factor to determine the yardstick who they want to represent them in parliament. So, strike while the iron is hot and on the right nerve, then the Chinese thinking faculty may work in a wondrous way.

In this Sibu by-election, the speculation is that the punters and bookies may call the shot, but I beg to differ. Whoever can speak their “mind language” has the advantage - the language of truth that brings fear to their very own existence to help shaped their decisions.

We may see a high possibility of paradigm change in this Sibu by-election because the Chinese have felt the impact of marginalization too. Their ability to be sustainable financially and to see themselves through is from a small percentage of the able Chinese and what about those who are wage earners?

The petty traders struggling for a living may have their licenses revoked and such threat (if PR wins) is uncommon from the power that may be. When their livelihood is at stake, the chances to garner their support will become more difficult.

A bowl of noodles now may cost RM5.00 and what is to come when GST (Goods and Services) tax is enforced, then the spending power will be drastically reduced leaving pittance to stay afloat. This is painful indeed, so is the courage to make the change.

Barisan Nasional, on the other hand, will keep pounding on with their unethical ways, be it threats, goodies and promises like what had happened in the last two by-elections.

And in this Chinese majority area, the Sibu voters will give Barisan Nasional a run for its money.

- We have to see at least 85% of Chinese voters coming out to cast their votes. (Very much depended on those above 35 years of age because the younger ones have left for greener pastures).

- Independent candidate(s) to lose deposit.

If the majority of the Chinese allows Pakatan Rakyat to lose by a close margin, then expect what to come with apocalyptic consequences. By then, don’t have to look around for someone to blame because the people to be blamed are those who keep looking around.

To which way will the wind blow is much depended on the voters’ wits. “Sibuhans” have to play their cards right to rid the “fixed deposit” trademark and dare for a change.

It is better to embed the benchmark to create history rather than such trademark to stay belittled!

Exhuming The Truth

The events that had taken place in Hulu Selangor by-election cannot be incinerated just like any other past by-elections. We are seeing totalitarian regimes hang onto power by fear and when anything does not work to their favour, they resort to corruption.

From the tenure of the previous prime minister, the modus operandi to suppress the truth remains. Today, we still see the fear the government has, to admit who is responsible for what.

The truth is important because it affects our lives intimately and collectively as a nation but the leaders we have do not adhere to this view. When situation does not allow us to trust anyone anymore, then we have to demand for the answer by exercising that right by being a registered voter and cast that right in the ballot box.

When will the day be when we can rely solely on the mainstream media for unbiased information? We know that the mainstream media is not honourable or brave enough to give us unbiased information.

Perhaps I have spoken too quickly. Judging from what Joshua Wong (NTV7) and Chou Z Lam (RTM 2) being intimidated, there is still a hope for the mainstream media to redeem its trust to the people. However, “two” swallows do not make a summer but their act of defiance is indeed honourable.

With the government clamping down on freedom of speech by unwarranted interference, we are actually losing our freedom and privacy. This has become our biggest threat.

What stories the government is going to spin and expecting the public to hear are over because the filths are too huge to substantiate the truth what more to the known scandals.

There are many gutless politicians elected by the people have failed miserable. They hold on to power and too afraid to speak out by playing the dumb game. The worse of the pack are those who are willing to bite the hands that feed them by jumping ship at the scheduled time. Such politicians may have too many dark secrets so to speak and have to remain servile.

This is how such politicians started their careers after the 2008 general election. They are the politicians who have helped corrupt our nation and are willing graduates of betrayal to their party and electorates, come what may, just to save their own skin.

The coming Sibu by-election will face with the same predicament. So, the first thing we need to consider is which news source is reporting whatever lies and whether they have reported them truthfully or put their own spin on them.

In reality, SPR is carrying the big stick and is not afraid to use it on the Opposition but very accommodating to their master. The expected level playing field will never see its day for it has turned into a mud patch.

We are seeing the dark art has taken on a more sinister dimension. The act beyond its rightful power that do injury to liberty, justice and individual rights over the people it supposed to protect is made evident of a corrupt government.

We are not powerless and should not allow the government to act wrongfully against us. By knowing how far the government has strayed, it is the “number” that counts to send the message that we have enough of it.

In the coming Sibu by-election - lead the change is the appropriate battle cry. We should see at least eighty percent (42,943) turnout against the last recorded sixty-seven percent (36,379) out of the 53,679 registered voters in the coming showdown.

Is eighty percent a far-fetched figure or otherwise, it is the ideal yardstick to give a clear indication what the people want. Change is at the doorstep and it depends on how responsive the electorates are going to be.

Our election history has proven this beyond a shadow of doubt that “numbers” is the benchmark for the edge.

Say what you like but remember - the change is just over the hill.

Are You Sure?

When I posted my projected win of 90 – 1500 majority for Zaid Ibrahim, many of my friends said that the figures are under-estimated.

Yes, Zaid surpasses his counterpart in many aspects, be it in personality, academic qualifications and principle which harness the expected quintessence that is required of by a member of parliament. So, he deserves more!

My answer is very simple. What the numbers will be for his majority, just times by seventy per cent and that should be the appropriate majority.

Perception differs from one person to another but the fact remains that the seventy per cent is the Houdini act.

I am not going to twist my words nor am I going to feel sorry for the “wrong” forecast. I stand by my perception – before, now and then! I am not going to say, let the best man win. The winner is not the best man after all neither the Hulu Selangorians’ choice!

What Sibu holds for the Sarawakians? It will be the same old tune to fight buy-election!

Zaid Ibrahim Is The Man

Projected Result – Hulu Selangor By-Election 2010

All the previous by-elections saw the distinct desperation from BN wanting to win. In their do or die heave for the final push, everything goes in Hulu Selangor!

The win in this by-election in Hulu Selangor plays a vital role and a yardstick to project the chances from the two sides in the coming Sibu by-election for an anticipated edge.

Judging from the demeanour of the voters, they definitely have their mind made up whom they want to represent them in parliament.

In such chessboard of political game, PR has played along well by turning the table around and the advantages become obvious to garner for sympathy votes.

The BN choice of Kamal or Alan or Nathan or Appu is the wrong choice indeed! But with the goodies given and all the promises to come, Kamal will not be thrashed brutally by the voters in his constituency.

Which way will the wind blow? The “ceramah” tonight will provide the additional “punch” to cement the choice for tomorrow’s D-Day!

Say what you like, it is going to be a clear cut result for PR to retain the Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat.

What Najib Has Done

On the 17 April 2010 in Kuala Kubu Baru, the Pakatan Rakyat supporters heard for the first time about the truth of Najib’s overseas trip.

A new breed of Members of Parliament starts to emerge without fear or favour to tell the citizens of Malaysia what are happening in the country are lauded for their quintessence, and one of them is Dr.Hatta.

It is really a frightening piece of information to realise how the country is steered and to what direction.

By-Election

Once again the 10th. by-election is on the way in Hulu Selangor. As of 2008 there were 63,593 registered voters and we should be seeing at least another 1% increase in turnout compared to the 47,845 recorded in the same year.

This is going to be a difficult by-election to predict who has the winning edge between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat at this point of time.

The candidates are imperative and the ceramahs to come will indicate the possible win.

Not only the candidates to be nominated are important, but also the people’s acceptance to the choice by the political parties.

I will go for broke in this coming by-election for Pakatan Rakyat to retain the seat, despite to be in the dark about who is going to be nominated. PR has the choices to pick the most appropriate candidate from the academia, former politicians or respected public figures.

From the nomination day onwards, it will be “lets rock n roll” for political enthusiasts and concerned citizens in all the ceramah nights.

Lets turn back the pages of time to Bagan Pinang by-election to feast the eyes on the fanfare during the nomination day. Can the nomination day at Hulu Selangor match the nomination day of the 9th. by-election in Bagan Pinang?

Perak MB vs MB - Palace of Justice

The crowd waiting for the court’s decision was rather boastful. The Barisan supporters in orange and the Pakatan Rakyat supporters chose to be “colourless” were taunting each other with their chants like charlatans.

The outcome of the court’s decision from the people was a mix.

Chegu Bard, as he is popularly known gave his opinion and what Pakatan Rakyat would do next.

It was an experience really to see the enthusiasm from the two sides at the Palace of Justice on the 09 Feb 2010.

Bagan Pinang - 09 Sept 2009

The following clips were recorded on 09 October at Batu 3, Jalan Pantai.

Bagan Pinang By-election

Finally, the excitement for Bagan Pinang by-election on the 11 Sept is over.

Barisan Nasional won with a majority of 5,435 and this is the people’s choice. Even the postal votes are not included, BN still wins comfortably.

The floodgate for the “by-election tsunami” to take another win had refused to open for Pakatan Rakyat.

Pakatan Rakyat should not blame the voters but to look internally where had gone wrong.
Is it that they have too many Hassan Ali and too few Khalid Samad? I guess so.

If and when the internal problems within the coalition are not honestly solved, no matter where the next by-election will be, there is going to be another repeat of Bagan Pinang.

It is unnecessary to write what people already know about Barisan’s mighty power but rather to look at who refuses to abide by the principles agreed upon within Pakatan itself.

Pakatan leadership should not start the blame game but to analyse its own follies!

It is difficult to get rid of the bad apples now but do Pakatan have the stamina to wait until the next general election?

Let us see what the next coming by-election, perhaps in two months time or so, will be. Until then, what are the problems that are going to emerge and how they are going to be solved will be the yardstick to determine where Pakatan is heading!

More to come.

Ceramah At Taman Bayu

The eve of the nomination day for Bagan Pinang by-election was mundane. The usual fanfare expected for any by-election was missing. The consolation is the beach and seafood to appease the disappointments.

The locals are hospitable and have a lot of sentiments to share. The usual soaring food prices and fuel are the subjects that matter most to them.

When asked about the chances of who will win the Bagan Pinang by-election, many lamented about the postal votes that may once again rob them of their choice.

We were told that there was a “ceramah” scheduled at Taman Bayu, a few kilometers away. A kind Malay man led us with his motor-cycle to the venue.

YB Gopala was there to share with those present about his experiences during his detention under I.S.A. He related about his humiliation and the harassment after his release.

The crowd about hundred plus was absorbed when he revealed how Tok Guru had helped him when he was down.

Despite the soggy ground people still congregated to hear other speakers calling for their votes for PAS candidate.

The coming Sunday will tell if PAS can create the upset or Barisan to hold on the seat for Bagan Pinang.

Bagan Pinang Nomination - 021009 Pt 02

The whole trunk road was filled to the brim when the two groups merged. PAS supporters stole the limelight and the green PAS flags could be seen at any corner.

The crowd swelled to a frightening size, at least at thirty-five thousands strong. As usual, the Unit Amal in saffron colour t-shirts led the way.

The Pakatan Rakyat coalition groups had to use the by-road leading to the other entrance to avoid the Barisan supporters stationed at the main entrance.

It was just unbeliever to see the mommoth crowd for a by-election.
