Mystery – Why Condoms?
Every ten seconds, a man, woman, or child in Africa dies from an AIDS-related disease. According to the USAIDS/World Health Organization (WHO), 40.3 million people now live with HIV infections, two-thirds of them in sub-Saharan Africa. In Swaziland, 42.6 percent of pregnant women test positive for HIV.
There's no cure for this killer, and no end in sight. The United Nations predicts that if present trends continue, AIDS will claim an additional 65 million lives by 2020-more than triple the number of those who died in the first 20 years of the pandemic. (Sue Ellin Browder)
There is no excuse not to talk about condoms. First, get to know what it is.
A condom is a fine rubber sheath that is rolled on to a man’s penis before sex. A condom acts as a barrier, preventing sperm and infections passing between sexual partners.
If you are getting very close with someone, communication is very important. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to insist that you or your partner wears a condom. The best time to talk about it is before you have sex but not in the heat of the moment!
Is it embarrassing to buy and carry condoms?
It is a lot more embarrassing to get or pass on an STD (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) and AIDS. If anyone is too embarrassed to deal with condoms, they are probably not ready to deal with sex.
The Vatican encourages sexual abstinence to fight the spread of the disease. It believes marital fidelity and sexual abstinence are the best way to prevent the spread of HIV.
Condoms help to prevent unwanted pregnancies and population control. Sexual abstinence to fight AIDS will be a fallacious notion because humans cannot live forever without sex.
The contention to use condom or not, should lie in the participants by first creating awareness of the risks they are going to take with their promiscuous partners. However, by sticking to your own spouse is the safest bet.
A giant size condom is just for show unless it is for goliath! Sex education should start at young age but to be too imaginative can be a problem.
A cleaver advertisement with a simple message – Don’t be stupid! Wear one!
Beijing, hosted in 2007 an amazing fashion show with beautiful Chinese models wearing clothes and accessories made from condoms. This condom fashion show was a great success.
After all, condom has its purpose for practical use and a creative way to send the message of how it could save life.

Please be informed that Seri Setia assemblyman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad together with the Selangor state government and the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will be organizing Young Women Carnival on 7 June 2009 at Kelana Jaya Park from 9.00am to 7.00pm.
Young Women Carnival is a whole day event targeted at young women to learn, share and mingle as this event aims to provide awareness and a bridge to much needed links and aid for women in Selangor. An array of exciting activities and talks have been arranged to bring forth all that you want to know, to do, and to get involved in.
The details of the Carnival are as follows:-
Time : 9.00am-7.00pm
Venue : Kelana Jaya Park, SS7 Kelana Jaya (Next to MBPJ Stadium)Talks by: YB Nurul Izzah Anwar, Celina 3R,YB Hannah Yeoh, Mamafiza from LittleKittle, Gambit Saifullah, Sis Zabrina 'Life is an Open Secret' , Mentari Voluntary Tuition Project, and the Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre.
Booths by : National Cancer Council (MAKNA), Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre, Tenaganita, Friends of Kelana Jaya Park, and an array of booths by young entrepreneurs.
We will also be having all sort of fun activities such as bhangra dance workshop, hijab-styling, make-up demo, henna art and many more.

FREE AUNG SAN SUU KYI - 04 April 2009
The “makcik” stall standing at the corner of the junction came to life when more ABDF members started to congregate. All dressed in red with a bold printed portrait of Aung San Suu Kyi on the front.Free Aung San Suu Kyi is akin to the “battle cry” for all Burmese who have fled Burma to the different parts of the world.
Finally, they started their march to the Embassy around 10.25 a.m. right into where the police had set their blockade.
The organizers negotiated with the police to allow them 15 minutes to vent their protest, and it was met with the much needed approval. The police stood watching while the members of the ABDF carried out what they had planned for in an orderly manner.
The chanting and shouts to free Aung San Suu Kyi was loud and clear. The Burmese Embassy was locked in and no official from the embassy was available for comments over the protest.
A key member read out their protest against the military junta and their demand that Aung San Suu Kyi must be released immediately.
Finally, it was all over taking more than 15 minutes. The flexibility of the police is noted here and it should be the way because protesters have their reasons to protest, and the police should provide them that rightful avenue to vent their feelings by ensuring nothing untoward happens.
