I, Tan Bun Teet, am the current Chaiperson of SAVE MALAYSIA STOP LYNAS Movement,Kuantan.
We are organizing a one day seminar on potential threats and hazards posed by the world largest Rare Earth processing plant at Gebeng, on the 26th June 2011 (Sunday) at SWISS GARDEN KUANTAN.
We are deeply concerned with the potential repercussions of having such a plant anywhere in Malaysia as its radioactive industrial wastes will eventually enter our food chain through seepage to underground water from the storage facilities.The site where Lynas Advanced Materials Plant is situated was once a swampy area and even at this time of writing, it is still surrounded by wet swampy land all around.
We earnestly hope that you will lend us the support we need to help us disseminate the correct information about its potential risks to the people throughout Malaysia so as to bring to bear pressures on our government to reconsider granting Lynas the license to begin its operation.
We shall provide all outstation participants with hotel accommodations.
We hope you will consider attending this seminar for the sake of our future generations as the industrial waste from rare earth processing leaves behind a substance called Thorium which has a half life of 14.05 billion years.
