Special Announcement

If you cannot attend for whatever reason, you may go to: http://www.papillon-liberte.blogspot.com/ for live reporting.

There is a concerted effort from the various bloggers to pull their resources to bring the highlights, suspense and the thrills and spills that are going to happen on the 01 August 2009 in the heart of Kuala Lumpur!

Somewhere In The Wilderness...

30 July 2009. SUK Negeri Perak.

In Ipoh this morning:

1. The Speakers and his Rights and Privileges committee were prevented from entering SUK (Secretariat Undangan Kerajaan) for their 10.00 a.m. meeting despite having written in earlier to the State Secretariat and the Dewan S/U.

They were barred with the reason that the PR Rights and Privileges committee was dissolved after the 507 meeting.

2. The Speaker and his Committee are still trying to find a way into SUK. Even a request for a drink at the canteen was denied. The State Secretariat Assistant was seen scurrying back and forth messaging between the PR Representatives and the Secretariat.

Situation became tense when when Simpang Pulai’s Rep lost his temper and attempted to force his way through the gates. He started swearing at the police.

Ngeh was briefed of the situation and he had advised the Speaker on the next course of action.

There were about 20 policemen and soon a jeep with 8 men in riot gear arrived.

The meeting will be continued at the contingency venue at Syuen Hotel.

3. SUK saga ended with a press conference and the submission of a letter informing the State Secretary and Dewan S/U to hold a meeting for Zambry to appear tomorrow before the committee.

The police resorted in using chains to secure the gates.

The committee then proceeded to Wisma DAP to meet their attorney, Kok Keong before heading to Syuen Hotel.

continued...

People are still living with the “make don’t know” attitude. People are still allowing racialism to rule the day. And people are still complacent about what are happening around them. Then, what are these people made of?

Whether anyone likes it or not, we have to gather all information root and branch, and allow our thinking faculty to ponder a little further intelligently by asking why death in police custody is still happening.

Is their thinking faculty so shallow that they are unable to understand the semantic of right from wrong? No, I do not think so, but the attitude itself that people have, has harnessed my belief that “they” expect someone else’s to take the trouble and initiative to get justice done while “they” continue to be the lounge critics. Pathetic!

It is a crying shame to see fellow Malaysians dying one after another despite no clear evidence of the crime committed. No matter who is the person, justice must prevail even for a criminal.

There is no surprise that many people can live with excuses and without guilt as well, because whoever dies is not their next-of-kin. By then, if it happens to his/her own flesh and blood, such people will shout at the world and condemn others for not giving their support to seek for justice.
Where were you when we needed you? How can we be there for you when you have refused to hold the hands of the other members of the civil society? When anyone refuses to stand up and be counted, blame no one but yourself because you have brought whatever the consequence to yourself!

This is what people are made of!

Another Death In Police Custody

Press Conference 29 July 2009 At Chinese Assembly Hall

Another death in police custody. R.Gunasegaran age 31, who was arrested on the evening of 16 July, 2009 in Sentul. His family members were later informed that Gunasegaran had died on the same day for drug related causes.

The family of the late Gunasrgaran had requested for a copy of the post-mortem report but they were informed that it will take about two months to get a copy of the said report.

The family has since been in contact with eye-witnesses to Gunasegaran’s arrest and detention by the police and has been informed that at the time of his arrest, Gunasegaran was subjected to physical assault by a member of the police force.

Later, he was assaulted by the same police officer but with much greater severity causing Gunasegaran to lose consciousness which he never regained until his death.

Strange But True

A Lorry On Fire - 23 July 2009

The could-not-be bothered attitude was just too appalling indeed! People standing and sitting near-by to look at the lorry burning. If it had exploded, just imagine what the casualties would be like.

All passing vehicles ignored the danger and drove by without a care of the possibility. How pathetic!

Palaver - Say Your Piece. (Segment 01 - Fashion)

Fashion changes with time and no matter how outlandish it may look, it is still a fashion.

However, what is worn inside a woman to accentuate her beauty is only associated in the privacy of bedrooms is a thing of the past. We can see sexy lingerie selling in any shopping mall today. And this seems to be conservative in yester-years, but the present contemporary allows women to feel comfortable by wearing it and to feel sexy.

Men love women who wear lingerie because such inner garments is the symbol of elegance and a class by itself.

For women, it can be exciting to wear different design each night and be wise enough to get her man to walk into a lingerie shop and make his pick.

He pays, you wear, and both of you can make the night special because sexy lingerie will make both of you very naughty, and most of all, it brings your feminine self to unleash the passion of romance and the desire for more in the eyes of the beholder.

Have fun with shopping for lingerie and don't be afraid to take a walk on the wild side. If you want to get some good ideas, drop by Bed of Roses.

Memorial For Teoh Beng Hock - Pandamaran

Pandamaran – Justice For Beng Hock

21 July at 8.30 p.m. a memorial for Teoh Beng Hock was held at a T-junction of Jalan Besar, Pandamaran.

The people in this vicinity contributed a little each and within two hours, a total of RM946 (nine hundred and forty-six only) was collected. The funds will be handed over to the bereaved family.
No amount of money collected, even nation wide, could bring back this young man who had left us in a mysterious way.

Will his departure be the turning point for Malaysian politics, or will he soon be forgotten, like ashes to ashes, dusts to dusts? Rest In Peace!

Mother Of All Scandals

When we are in the darkest hour of life, we hope to see a little light at the end of the tunnel. It is the light of hope that we will fight to the last breath to stay alive and sane no matter in what hopeless situation. Even at the dying breath, the spirit will keep fighting even his physical self is not responding and degenerating. You and I make no difference!

Malaysia has earned the notoriety of ignoring human rights and systematically killing democracy through whims and fancies knowing too well that by using racial sentiments “they” can go scot free.

Today, we see the second wave of change emerging stronger to face adversity with courage.

If we allowed ourselves to sit on the cushion of complacence, by then it will be too late to wake up to see no one left to help you through.

When we don’t have the fortitude to stop abuses by standing up and be counted, then we have no one else to blame except ourselves.

The Demise of Teo Beng Hock

I arrived late and by then, people in black were seen walking away from where they had congregated after saying their farewell to Teo Beng Hock.

I trudged on alone and was greeted by a handful of people who seemed reluctant to move away.

It was a breezy night and the candle flames danced reflecting solemnness around the quiet of midnight. I felt the sense of calmness and from the corner of my eyes she lit the candles one after another.

It was a touching sight and I approached her and she looked up. Her puffy eyes anchored on her bulging eye-bags could not hide her feelings through her smile and she continued to light the candles.

Looking at her having to lose a dear friend, it made my vision blurred. A miraculous surge of feeling was overwhelming, and as if hallucinated by the whispering breeze caressing my ears in tapering whispers, I could hear her heart-rending message to him, “If only you could tell me why.”

Video Interview – Kota Bahru (Chinatown/Market)

The locals are friendly and obliging, and this has made us feel very much at home. After having a quick lunch, I approached the Chinese men sitting a few tables away from us hoping the get a peek into their way of life in Kota Bahru Chinatown.

The interview was done in "hokkien" dialect.

Summary of the Interview

It is true that we are allowed to rear pigs and eat pork. The local Malays have no objection to our way of life and many of us are supporting the PAS government. Between now and ten years before, the government is more relaxed because selling liquour is allowed with a license. However, in karaoke lounges, the check is strict.

The Chinese population in Kelantan is about 3%. It is not difficult for us to earn a living. We are not in a hurry unlike those from other states. We will not die of hunger. We are satisfied because we have no fear of robbery anywhere we go.

Market

Well, seeing is believing rather than listening to exaggerated tales about restrictions on anything that is deemed as un-islamic.

The important aspect to nurture a matured society is to have the ability to empathize, learn to live and let live and to understand each community cultural beliefs and practices.

When such understanding is steadfast in principles, it brews cohesiveness where peace will be given the chance to give the people the rightful PEACE to live as ONE.

The sincerity that allows people the avenue to choose how to live their lives is second to none, and for 1Malaysia, it will take a long, long time to see how this slogan is able to turn into reality. I would rather believe in Anak Bangsa Malaysia to foster for a true Malaysian identity. I rest my case!

KELANTAN An Islamic State

No matter what you read and no matter how you perceive 1Malaysia to be, it is just an idea waiting to be hatched. To be able to make 1Malaysia a reality in a multi-racial society, it is not a cinch or can be done with mere slogans, but with a strong conviction instead.

With insincere politicians shouting rhetoric instead of speaking with one tongue, 1Malaysia will just be the tag-line that is used once too often resulting in ennui.

The Malaysian multi-racial society of different ethnic make-up is beginning to understand the complications to accept the true meaning of 1Malaysia. The complications do not derive from failing to understand why integration is imperative, but from selfish politicians who are creating the confusion of fear that gives hesitation the avenue to the fence-sitters to hold back their horses!

Say what you like and opine what you deem fit, but remember what comes out from the horse’s mouth surpasses the thinking of politicians and even the intellects as well.

The trip to Kelantan for the Manek Urai by-election was an eye-opener, not only for political purposes but also a rich experience to be with the man on the street.

As usual, when comes to politics and religions, people tend to shy away yet have so much to talk about once the guarantee of their identities are bounded and locked.

The most surprising of all was when they were asked about what their views were on 1Malaysia. Lost for a moment trying to figure out what I meant, was the tell-tale sign that they had no inkling what I was talking about. Their sheepish smiles to hide such ignorance had impressed upon me that I was going to have a field-day with them.

A paroxysm of laughter after my explanation to hide their ignorance was understandable. Those with curious minds would “interview” me instead wanting to know more about what is 1Malaysia all about. However, I obliged even though it was not my cup of tea.

The bottom line is that 1Malaysia is not anything new to them because for the locals, they have been “1Malaysia” ever since time immemorial! They have been able to co-exist like intelligent people without “racial contamination” is because of Tok Guru himself.

The virtues that have harnessed them to be who they are today are in the following summarized sequence.

Understand what religion has taught them
Respect one another because our existence depends on it.
Friendship derives from knowing the different religious and cultural practices and the likes and dislikes from the various communities.

One statement made by a Chinese woman in particular had me thinking over in my mind along the way back to the hotel. Luckily, she could communicate in English otherwise my half-baked “hokkien” dialect would have confused her.

“We have being living in Kelantan for more than sixty years and we are still here!”

With the opportune moment available, it was to strike when the iron is hot over more sensitive questions.

Me : What about living with other communities? Is there any problems?
Her : No, we can live together. See for yourself. We are peaceful.
Me : What has made this possible?
Her : (Shrugging her shoulders) We understand each other.
Me : How about the livelihood, is it difficult to survive?
Her : No, our business is as usual, but slow.
Me : I am more interested to know about the integration of the minor community with the
higher populace of another community.
Her : Do you mean living peacefully? (I nodded my head). Do you know when other states
had to experience May 13, here in Kelantan we were living peacefully.
Me : Can you tell me how Kelantan is different?
Her : If Perak is under PAS mentri besar, YB Nizar like Kelantan is under Tok Guru, the
states will be fairly governed. Outside these states I have my reservation for PAS.
Me : How about religion and food especially pork?
Her : We have no problems with that. (Her husband interrupted). You can see the tallest
sitting and sleeping statues of Buddha in Tumpat.
Me : What about pork?
Her : You can walk to the bus and taxi stand and you can see for yourself.
Me : Do you mean pork is allowed to sell openly?
Her : Yes!
Me : Do you mean to say that there is no objection from the locals?
Her : No. What is there to object? They understand!
Me : What about pig farming then?
Her : The Siamese are allowed to rear pigs in villages and even their pigs are roaming
about. Pork is also sent in from other states.

This was what had excited me (even though I am not entirely a pork-eater) because what I have heard about such restriction and able to see with my own eyes, then, I would be able to tell the world about the good of PAS government.

Photos to follow soon. (Facing technical problems).

What To Come

We will be leaving early for Manek Urai this morning from Kota Bahru. The crowd will be the determined factor at the various polling stations and the pre-emption will be at least 75-80 per cent turnout to cast their votes.

PAS could easily garner a majority of 1000 -1300 votes after the final count.

The subsequent coverage to be posted will be from Laloh’s ceramah, the life of the people and other tourist destinations.

There are surprises to what we have seen and the humbug information people outside Kelantan are receiving about race and religion in Kelantan.

The Road To Peria

The main road leading to Peria was a nightmare. At the point of this photograph taken, we were still having two kilometres to reach Peria. Behind us, it was said to be a five kilometres stretch of vehicles crawling to the site where the "ceramah" was held.

DSAI, Lim Kit Siang and Tok Guru himself were scheduled to speak at the ceramah.

The site of the "ceramah" is good for about two-thousand crowd but it was overflowed to any corner that could accommodate the surging crowd.

From the site to the shoulder of the road (from where I was) the crowd could easily exceed seven thousand people.

The P.A. system was the only means that could keep the crowd listening to the speakers they came to listen to.

Donning the Tok Guru T-shirt and capped my hair with the PAS UNTUK SEMUA slogan, I could walk the royal road into the crowd. Anyone looking at me was "puzzled" over how and why the Chinese have the respect for their revered Tok Guru. They made way for me and even ushered me to where I wanted to go.

"Kami Sokong Tok Guru" cried out loud and clear and our sincere gesture had captured the hearts of the locals. They came to shake our hands and thanked us for the support. Their approving looks had forged us together as ONE.
Our presence, be it from the N.G.Os, Anak Bangsa Malaysia or individuals had made us feel so much at home and proud to be able to mingle with the Peria folks right in the Malay heartland.

We have heard so much about Tok Guru and we made a visit to Secretariat Undangan Kerajan, Negri Kelantan.

It is true to the core to confirm that he will entertain anyone from all walks of life.

We crossed our first hurdle when we told the security officer about our intention. We were told that he had left half an hour earlier, but nevertheless, he allowed us into his office.

XINJIANG RIOT

URUMQI, July 6 (Xinhua) - Xinjiang Communist Party of China (CPC) chief Wang Lequan said Monday the riot in Urumqi revealed the violent and terrorist nature of the separatist World Uyghur Congress leader Rebiya Kadeer.

"The riot has destroyed the spiritual support with which the terrorist, separatist and extremist forces cheated the people to participate in the so-called 'Jihad'," Wang said in an interview with Xinjiang TV.

"The incident also revealed Rebiya's nature of fake human rights, fake democracy, true violence and true terrorism," he said.

Wang called the riot a profound lesson learned in blood and said all Party members should take the strongest measures to deal with the enemies' attempt at sabotage and keep regional stability.

"We must always bear in mind that national unity is our lifeline," he said.

Netizens condemn biased reporting on riots.

BEIJING, July 9 -- Netizens slammed some Western media, including CNN, for biased reporting about the riots in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, which left 156 people dead.

After analyzing the structure, selection of sources, and wording choice, some netizens urged Western media to stop repeating their mistakes in covering the Lhasa riots last year.

Some western media blamed the government and security forces for the violence, without even mentioning the brutal killings by those rioters, netizens said. The CNN report, "Unrest among Uyghur residents in China" (July 7, 2009), mainly used one anonymous witness and a spokesman for the World Uyghur Congress as the news source, portraying the event as a bloody crackdown over the peaceful protestors.

XINJIANG RIOT

Death toll has risen to 156 following the Sunday evening riot in Urumqi, Capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

By Tuesday morning that the dead included 129 men and 27 women while 1,080 people were injured in the riot.

The Most Poisonous

The Top Ten most poisonous animals carry harmful chemicals called toxins. Usually, these toxins are used for defense, and are stored in the skin or in special glands that are designed to hurt, kill or slow down would-be predators. They deliver their toxins by stinging, stabbing, or biting.

Poisonous creatures have no intent to hurt other creatures, which is why they have bright colors and markings that send a clear message of its fatality.

If a predator ignores that warning, he might not get a second chance. One swallow, or even a little taste testing, and it is all over. The toxin will stop the heart or lungs from working and death will follow.

How To Keep Healthy Butts

Video Clip: Angela Ooi

Physical exercises are important to the body. No matter how and where exercises are done, as long as they benefit the body, then the time spent is worth it.

However, to have firm buttock cheeks, the song, These Boots Are Made For Walking is appropriate for such exercise.

Not only such exercise is excellent for butts, but also an avenue to test the eyesight of the males. If your right and left eyes can twitch to syncronize with her right and left butt cheeks, then you have perfect 20-20 vision, otherwise get your eyes tested.

The Life Cycle Of A Chick

Through natural mating, better fertility will result when mating occurs after the hen has laid a hard shell egg.

What goes on inside the egg will be the transformation of nature.

Fertilization in commercial chickens is usually the result of natural mating. However, in some cases, artificial insemination is commonly practised.

The rooster (like man) will initiate mating by exhibiting courtship behaviour: dropping one wing and dancing in a circle (the lowered wing will be on the inside of the circle dance).

The hen will crouch (dip her head and body) to indicate receptiveness to the male. The rooster will then mount the hen and grab her comb, neck feathers, or the skin on the back of her head or neck to help hold onto the hen's back.

The next behaviour is the tread (the rooster walks quickly in place on the hen's back) and finally the completed mating of the behavioural sequence. The completed mating occurs when the rooster dips his tail to the side of the hen's tail and spreads his tail feathers so that their cloacae come into contact. At this point the rooster's ejaculate is released directly into the hen's vagina via her cloaca.

A rooster may mate from 10 to 30 or more times per day (for males born in the year of the rooster, eat your heart out), depending on the availability of hens and competition from other roosters.

Photos From Previous By-Elections

By-election seems to be a norm in Malaysia. Manek Urai will see a new surge of vigour from Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat, both keen to wrestle Manek Urai. No matter what the outcome will be, there will be plenty of surprises and disappointments in store.

Delicacies?

The Chinese have the fallacious thinking that gourmet comes from "whatever they can lay their hands on" to lay on the table.

Talking about food, the Chinese are paronoid about delicacy and the mainland Chinese are; six one one, and half a dozen of the other. If you tell them about animals right, they will put you into a boiling pot to make stew instead.

It is a sad case to see the country has progressed by leaps and bounds yet such cruel treatment to other living things still prevails.

Living With Nature

Whether it is the Beauty of Nature; Beauty In Nature; Beauty Is Nature or Beauty and Nature, we are part of Nature. Has Man learnt to live with Nature or Man has begun destroying Nature that has endowed us with her beauty and the life-line for millions of years?

To be in the arms of Nature seeking solace for the troubled heart, it will be our communication with heaven and earth, and become part of nature. In the presence of nature, a wild delight runs through the man, in spite of real sorrows. But, Man has yet to learn that there is no sorrow that Nature (Heaven) cannot heal.

We must trust the impeccable creation and to believe that whatever curiosity the order of things has awakened in our minds, it is the order of things that can satisfy. So, all living things inside and outside the vicinity of the wilderness, Man must learn to co-exist with Nature, but not to annihilate her.

The Classic Of Oriental Beauties

In the era of the emperors and dynasties, the beauties of the oriental girls were kept away from the roving eyes.

Like a fleet of delicate butterflies, their enchantment and beauty, laced with fair and taut skin are harnessed in their curvaceous and petite figures.

Such piece of art created by the hands of Nature, lends an air of Oriental tranquility to be admired and adored until the end of time.

Unity Night (30 June 2009)

The din was deafening outside the stadium as the DVDs of politicians making their fiery speeches were played loud enough to attract a small crowd to congregate around their stalls. T-shirts with Tok Guru’s image were selling well so were the paraphernalia.

The crowd was tame even by 9.30 p.m. As usual, the Malaysians habitual trait of not being on time could not escape even by just a glance. As time passed by, the crowd was estimated to be around 5,000 strong after an hour.

Saudara Lim Kit Siang had the ball rolling and the PM was not spared by his bashing of what is happening in the country. The PKFZ scandal was the hardest hit by Saudara Lim.

PAS President, Hadi Awang recited the holy verse to substantiate why he was against unity government with Umno.

As usual, DSAI spoke with his clever and impassioned rhetoric to mesmerize the crowd with a touch of his trademark of funny satire. His style was the crowd puller.
